May OMG : Zelda quilt

Hi everyone! I've been so inspired by all the quilting that the OMG gang does that I've decided to try my hand at a quilt for the first time in, oh, 20 years.

I was browsing in a fabric store a couple of years ago and my husband -- who loves video games -- pointed out these cool fabrics. So we bought a yard of each and then -- OF COURSE -- it just went into the stash.

So I decided to sketch out a very simple 9-patch design and I'm going to attempt to at least make the flimsy this month. As a stretch, I could get it pinned together. I know a lot of quilters could take my simple design and turn it around in a day, but we'll see how I do. Maybe it's like riding a bike?

The One Monthly Goal link-up is organized by Elm Street Quilts with the idea that we can just focus on one task and make progress. You can see all the new May projects -- or add your own -- on the Goal Setting page. (You can also see how people did in April on the Finish Party page!)

  1. That is a great challenge for May! I spent some time on mine yesterday. I am so looking forward to using up most of the half square triangle snips I have saved from other projects. It will be great to have those little fruit trays empty!

  3. Lovely fabrics. Good luck with making the quilt, and when in doubt, youtube is a great help.
