Zanzibar morning musings...

I love the morning on the balcony. The city is awake, but there aren't many people moving around yet. Young women in snow-white hijab on their way to school. A father and tween-age son walking and arguing. A rooster crowing insistently that the sun is up. The ding of bicycle bells, the scuff of rubber sandals. The rattle of a small motorbike, punctuated by"meep meep" from the horn as the rider navigates tight corners. The slap of wings, followed by a metallic "ting ting ting" as their claws try to gain purchase on the metal roofs. And a short-haired cat with a long bushy tail stalks silently.
