Tiger Stitch-a-Long, part 3

Hi everyone! Hope you are all safe and well. Let's see how Mr. Tiger is progressing! Here's where I was 3 weeks ago:

I honestly can't believe that it's been three weeks -- getting our reminder this week came as a shock. But I have gotten quite a bit done.

I finished the leaves at the bottom and most of the leaves at the top, and then I started working on the background -- largely because I wanted to keep stitching while I was watching television. Just filling in the blanks!

I love that the background in the center is a blend of 2 strands of one color, and 1 strand of another -- creating a mottled effect.

As we're in October, I'm going to take a break from Mr. Tiger to make some calavera ornaments from Mill Hill:

I couldn't decide which color I wanted to make, and I saw a set of all six available, and, well, you know how it is.

I got a head start on one ornament, but I honestly can't tell how long it will take me to complete them. There not very big, so by next time I hope to have two or three done.

Our next check in is on October 25. Till then, check out all the great projects that the other stitchers in this stitch-a-long are working on:

Avis, Claire, Gun, Carole, SueConstanze, Christina, KathyMargaret, Cindy, Heidi, Jackie, Hayley, Megan, Deborah, Mary Margaret, Renee, CarmelaSharon, DaisyAnne, Connie, AJ, JennyLaura, Cathie, Linda, and Helen.

  1. I enjoy working with blended colours too. Your tiger is coming along really well. I laughed out loud when I read you'd bought all six mini kits. Why not, eh? Fun x 6 :-)

    1. Thanks Avis -- the best thing about the kits is that I bought them knowing they wouldn't ship for a few weeks, and then almost forgot about them! The little bundle came and I thought, "Oh, dear, what have I done?!?"

  2. I find it interesting that you work the background on the diagonal. I do like the blended colors.

    1. Thanks Cathie! With needlepoint, filling in large patches on the diagonal helps keep the fabric from pulling too much in one direction and becoming diamond-shaped rather than square. It uses up a bit more wool, but it also makes the stitched piece a bit more dense. And it somehow makes the filling in a little less tedious. :)

    1. Thanks Jenny! I've done a bit more stitching since Sunday and they're super fun. It's almost like two different projects -- cross stitch and then all the beading. I hope I'll be able to show them all off next time!

  6. I like blending colors too. Makes everything more interesting, the stitching as well as the end product. I love that you just went for the whole set of skulls! You can do some this year and some next year if you so choose. ;-)

  9. Gotta love having background you can do while enjoying a movie, etc! Mr. Tiger is looking great, and I'm sure he won't mind you turning your attention to those little Calevaras!

    1. Thanks Kathy -- I'm planning on focusing on the calaveras, but keeping Mr. Tiger nearby when I can't focus as much.
