Scrap Happy afghan part 4

Hi everyone! I hope you are all safe and healthy.

A month ago -- remember how different everything was then? Well, I'd done about one and a half repeats of the pattern.

And now, a month later... I've done just over two and a half repeats. I had to lay it on the floor, which meant that my cats needed to check it out too. That's Bub in the center, and "action cat" Kiki zooming in at the bottom edge.

Of course, now this is just an excuse to show you pictures of my cats. And don't we all need that nowadays? Here's one where Kiki is looking at the camera. And, being cats, of course they would never *both* look at the camera at the same time...

I'm still really happy at how this is coming together, if a little disappointed at HOW MUCH YARN I STILL HAVE LEFT. I did, however, find a local charity that is gathering yarn for seniors who are self-isolating. So anything left over -- and a bunch of additional yarn from my stash -- will get packaged up and delivered to them.

My plan is to get through another one and a half color passes, and then do a black border around the outside. I suppose I should also weave in the loose ends at some point -- my least favorite part of the project!

ScrapHappy Day is organized by Kate and Gun, so if you're interested in participating please see their blogs. And my fellow ScrapHappy Stitchers are super creative, visit their blogs to see how they're using up some of their scraps.

Kate, Gun, Titti, Heléne, Eva, Sue, Nanette, Lynn, Lynda, Birthe, Turid, Susan, Cathy, Debbierose, Tracy, Jill, Claire, Jan, Moira, Sandra, Linda, Chris, Nancy, Alys, Kerry, Claire, Jean, Joanne, Jon, Hayley, Dawn, Gwen, Connie, Bekki, Pauline, and Sue L.

Our next check in is on May 15; I hope to be working on the border by then!

  1. Just beautiful. I love how the colour graduation gives it a 3D look, like a series of fences!

  2. Thanks Kate! I'm so happy with it! Last night I did a grey row where I used up the last of two different colors -- so satisfying! I'm the sort of person who gets excited about using up a bottle of shampoo, so maybe I'm just odd...

    1. Thank you! I don't crochet very often so this has been a real pleasure.

  4. That's a lot! This pattern is a magic puzzle to me. I don't even see how you could do it. =)

    1. Thanks Susan! It's almost shockingly easy -- a row of stitches of varying height and then exactly the same back, then an "out and back" of double crochet in black between. All that leftover gray yarn is doing most of the design work.

  5. This has grown spectacularly! It is really striking, and I'm with you, I love it when I use something completely up!

    1. I keep looking in the box of yarn and wondering just how much of it I can use up! :)

  6. That looks so cool (or warm, as the case may be)! Good to see the cats too. :D
I'm glad you found a way to donate your leftover yarn. I'm sure that will be much appreciated by the seniors who need to do something with their hands.

    1. Thanks Sue! I think a little part of me will be sad to finish (though there are still a zillion ends to weave in!) -- I don't have to think about a pattern very much, I just hook along.
