Then this weekend, I decided to make up the cushion itself. I already had the backing fabric and was able to order a cushion insert and a zipper for curbside pickup, so why not put it together?
I also decided to try making some tassels for the corners. I'm not sure I'll use them, but I like how they turned out (and they used up some of the leftover lengths of wool!):
I'll try them out (oh, and trim them up!) once I make the cording. Even without the finishing, I'm still thrilled with the way the cushion turned out! Here it is next to two of the "Forest" cushions I made earlier:
I know what you're thinking ... what's next??? I think I'll take a little break from needlepoint and try some cross stitch. I have a gorgeous smallish kit that might be perfect. We'll see at our next check-in on July 12!
The other stitchers in this stitch-a-long all make amazing, and inspiring projects, so check out everyone's blogs to see what they're all up to.

Thank you Carmela! I'm so pleased to have it almost finished!
DeleteCONGRATULATIONS!! Your needlepoint is simply gorgeous and I love the cushion that you have made. The tassels are the perfect color!
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie! There was so much leftover yarn that had been precut into lengths it seemed a shame not to use some of it.
DeleteCongrats Sunny! You whipped that out in no time, and to have it finished and on the couch too! Make sure you show us a picture when the cording and tassels are on. 😍
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy! Will do. I hope the the skeins of wool won't take too long to arrive.
DeleteWow! That's a gorgeous finish. Getting all the stitching done was a lot but to have made up the cushion as well, that's great. I hope you're feeling better too :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Avis! This cushion was super easy -- just the zipper and then the outside. I had thought about putting it off and then thought -- I should just get my machine out and sew it! I'm feeling much better -- it's a little strange knowing I still have a clot in the back of my brain and to be monitoring lots of things, but otherwise feeling "normal".
Deletevery impressive ^^

Thanks Claire!
DeleteYour pillow is gorgeous! I like the cording and tassel idea.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cathie! I've never made or attached cording, so I hope it turns out well. I'll be sure to post a pic when it's done!

ReplyDeleteThank you Gun -- I'm really happy with it.

ReplyDeleteThank you Laura! I'm really happy with it -- now I almost have too many cushions!
ReplyDeleteWow it’s beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThanks AJ!
DeleteHoly cow! I'm going to get up off my duff and do a little dance in your honor! It looks fantastic! The cross stitch project will be a breeze after this. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sue! The wool has arrived to make the cording, now I just have to rope my husband in (no pun intended!) to help me hold it while I twist.
