Japanese Stitch-a-Long, part 3 -- BELATED!!!

Hi everyone! First and foremost, apologies for the late post -- I have no excuses apart from a lingering case of post-Japan jet lag.


What's worse is that I have barely touched a needle since our last check-in. I did do some fun fabric shopping in Tokyo, but I have only just unpacked the shopping! Yep, I've been home a week...


One thing I did buy while in Tokyo was this cute sashiko bag kit... just the thing to carry my sashiko projects in!


It's pretty simple, and I've barely started the stitching, but it's so satisfying to see the design pop with the white thread on the indigo cloth.

I think I'll work on that and decided I do want to work on the cherry-blossom "orphan" cross-stitch kit after all. Though I love autumn -- it's my favorite season -- I think I'd like a last little glimpse of springtime before I dive into autumn leaves!

      Thanks Claire! The great thing about sashiko is that it comes together quickly -- instant satisfaction! Japan was so lovely and I have so many adventures to write about, but I'm also happy to be home with the cats.

    Welcome home! That does look like the perfect bag to toting around your current sashiko project - although I think I'd show it off around town. ;-)

      Thanks Sue -- we'll see how it turns out. I don't sew much anymore so need to remember how to create a lining for a bag -- the fabric is too thin to hold much weight!

    Welcome home Sunny! I love your new sashiko bagp there is just something about indigo blue and white that is so appealing!

      It's so clean and crisp, isn't it? It has also just occurred to me that I could do silver stitching on black. (Yeah, literally, just NOW occurred to me!)
